Can You See The Eiffel Tower From London?

I think I can see the Eiffel Tower from the roof of the building I work at in the West End, I just have a hard time believing it’s actually the Eiffel Tower.

Even if you were at the very top of the highest building in London (which I doubt), it is not possible due to intervening topography and the curvature of the earth.
You are probably looking at the North Pole.

It’s in the ballpark of 200 miles directly from London to Paris.
Even if you had a powerful telescope, I believe the curvature of the earth would prevent you seeing that far on land.
Even on top of a 1000-foot-tall building (which would be approaching 100 stories tall), you shouldn’t be able to see beyond 40-50 miles.

Anyting over 16miles the earths curve will hide the veiw of something over it. Paris is about 250 miles away, so no its not the eiffel tower.
Your right not to belive its that.
If your looking towards the south/croydon area then you may be looking at 2 tall fluted towers about 5 miles apart. These are TV towers near Upper Norwood.
To the north there is a tall steel latice tower on Alexandra palace, the highest point in london, this is also a TV tower.I think its one of these that you are looking at.

It can’t be, it’s far over the Horizon from London even at the top of a tall building, its over 340 kilometres (213 miles) from London and even if you could see it, it would be so small you’d be unable to make it out.

I rather doubt it. I have seen France from England but I was in Dover overlooking the channel towards France. On a clear day with good binoculars you can see France, but not Paris from London! Both are too far inland.
