Emma B asked: I’m from the UK and I’m looking for a return ticket from Newcastle to London. I need the cheapest one possible. Not bothered about 1st class or anything. Also what station in London is nearest to Leicster Square?
Check out the more you book in advance the cheaper your price or megabus do really cheap journeys
hope this helps!
Cheapest is £105. Have you thought about going by bus its miles cheaper.
Look for two singles which are available on National Express East Coast – I recently did a journey from mid Sussex to Durham for under £70, so you could reckon to knock another £10 off that if you are only traveling to London. You will end up at King’s Cross which is as near Leicester Square as any main line station (Charing Cross excepted). From Kings Cross take the Northern tube line northbound to Euston (one stop) change for a southbound Northern Line train on the west end branch for Leicester Square
£105 (off-peak) according to the NATIONAL RAIL journey planner
But you may be able to get some special deals buying in advance directly from NXEC’s own website:
If you book in advance for specific trains, as far in advance as possible you will easily be able to obtain a return for half the £105 quoted above. Go to Newcastle Station or the rail company website. From Kings Cross the arrival station from Newcastle, the Underground Piccadilly Line will take you direct to Leicester Square
emma we need to know when you are travelling. If we get exact dates we can check for you as cheaper tickets are train and date specific.
Also from Newcastle NXEC arrive qat London Kings Cross, you can get underground direct to Liecester Square are alternatively you can walk it.
Come back with some dates or go into nearest mainline station and speak to trained ticket office staff
depending on what date you are travelling on, you can buy Advance Purchase Tickets in advance and these can be as little as £14 for a single journey, but remember there will be less of these than higher price tickets, so the further in advance you book the easier it is to get a good cheap ticket.
The thing to remember about Advance Purchase tickets is that there are specified for one train and one train only, so if you have booked to go on say the 09.30 from newcastle that is the train you must travel on there is no flexibility, if you miss the train go to the travel centre and get your ticket sorted if you get on the train you will be eligible to pay the full single fare regardless of what price you have paid for your original ticket and you will NOT get a refund, so just be aware
